With more than 3000 km of cycle routes, Sønderjylland makes an ideal holiday destination for cyclists. Numerous cycle paths and routes criss-cross the region from north to south and east to west.
The local, regional and national routes take you through some of Denmark’s most beautiful and varied landscapes. The line of the ice front from the most recent Ice Age bisects the region, with the landscape on each side of the boundary being markedly different. In the east you find tunnel valleys, moraine hills and terminal moraine landscapes, whereas the landscape in the west is almost flat and slopes gently down towards the North Sea, only interrupted by a few islands of soft, rolling hills.
