Ban on catching eels

Recreational anglers are not permitted to fish for eels in either salt water or fresh water.

This applies to eels at all stages of their life cycle. If caught, the eel must be released immediately and must not be kept or landed. This applies regardless of whether it is injured and unlikely to survive release.

It is not a closed season imposed by the Danish authorities, but rather a catch restriction set by the EU, which applies to all of Denmark.
