Sønderborg Strikkefestival

Look forward to the fourth edition of the Sønderborg Strikkefestival, which will take place from 12 to 14 June 2026. Once again, it will feature more than 30 different workshops and just as many exciting shops, all gathered in one place.

The knitting festival takes place in iconic buildings in the heart of Sønderborg, close to the blue Als Sund: the modern multicultural centre and the historic barracks, which now serve as a community centre. The aim is that, as in previous years, around 1,100 guests will find their way to this yarn mecca.

The Sønderborg Strikkefestival kicks off on Friday 12 June with a spectacular stage show featuring knitwear designer Lisa Renner. With her latest summer collections, she takes guests on a journey to a world of summer, warm sand and wind in their hair. She knits yarn and stitches to heights where they achieve a unique interplay with body awareness and the joy of movement – and serves it up festively and energetically from the edge of the stage. It will be a spectacular start to this year’s festival.

There will also be workshops on Friday, as well as on Saturday and Sunday. Among the 40 different workshops, there is something for beginners, experienced knitters and experts alike: textured knitting, tapestry knitting, weave knitting, Icelandic techniques, Fair Isle, patent and double knitting, knitting with leftover yarn, freeform, raglan, feminist knitting, chicken knitting, embroidery on knitwear and much, much more.

On Saturday and Sunday, the stalls will open at Foreningshuset Kasernen: a dream come true, featuring around 30 wonderful, completely different shops all in one place. Yarn shops from across the country will be showcasing their delights. In selecting the stalls, Garn uden Grænser has emphasised great variety to appeal to a wide audience, offering everything from all kinds of yarns, hand-dyed yarn, knitted items, new designs and special offers on lovely kits for bags, beads, buttons, needles and hooks. A world of possibilities and inspiration for your next craft project.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, you can once again take part in the Sønderborg Strikkefestival this year at very reasonable prices: 100 kr. for a full-access ticket/wristband and 325 kr. per workshop. That’s cheap, and it’s cheap because we believe that the community around knitting and the opportunity to experience and learn new things should be for everyone.
