Turning on the Christmas tree lights in Sønderjylland
In Sønderjylland, we don’t just switch on the lights on the Christmas trees. First, we must wake Santa Claus, who has been asleep for almost a year! He sleeps very heavily, and therefore, we need children who can shout really loudly so we can wake him up. Will we succeed this year?
*Rådhustorvet in Sønderborg
On Saturday 8 November 2025 from 14.00 there will be Christmas entertainment on the stage. Michael Vogensen performs at 15.45. Santa Claus arrives in his sleigh around 16.15, after which the town’s Christmas tree is lit and goodie bags are handed out to all children. You can also have your photo taken with Santa.
*Den Røde Plads in Nordborg
Join the welcoming of Santa by the lake at the castle grounds by Nordborg Slot on Friday 21 November 2025 at 16.00. Walk together up through Storegade to Den Røde Plads, where the Christmas tree will be lit. The FDF Orchestra sets the mood with festive Christmas music, and there might just be goodie bags for the children.
*The Old Town Hall, Aabenraa
Santa Claus will be awakened Storetorv in Aabenraa on Saturday 22 November at 10 am. The Aabenraablæserne brass band and Jumpin Jacks will provide the entertainment, the Christmas Heart Village will open and more. As always, there will also be sweet bags for all children.
*Torvet, Rødekro
Santa’s wake-up call on the square, Torvet, in Rødekro on Saturday 29 November at 10 am. “Your Choice”, Blæserbanden playing Christmas music, free sweet bags for all children, joint walk with Santa and Blæserbanden around Rødekro.
