The green oases

Forests are not the only places to enjoy peaceful surroundings. Across Sønderborg Municipality, you will find castle gardens and public parks that are open to visitors.

In Gråsten, the garden Fromidlingshaven was created as part of the cross border project “Blomster bygger broer” (Flowers Build Bridges) offers a different garden experience, where the concept ‘Vild med vilje’ encourages a less manicured approach to parts of the garden.

The gardens at Graasten Palace attracts several thousand visitors each year. However, when the Royal Family is staying at the palace, the palace gardens are closed to the public, During this period, you can still visit the Royal Kitchen Garden, which is located at a separate address.
