Christmas market in Aabenraa
From 20 November to 23 December 2021, you can enjoy yourself in the Christmas City at the old trainstation of Aabenraa, where you can experience Christmas as in 1850.
Unfortunately, the Christmas heart town will not open this year!
Due to logistical challenges, it has unfortunately not been possible for the puzzle to go up - and we must therefore regret that Christmas heart town will not open this year.
The town of Christmas hearts - "Julehjertebyen" is located the old Railway station. Traditional Danish Christmas treats such as doughnuts ('æbleskiver') and rice pudding are made on old-fashioned wood burning stoves and given out free of charge in order to warm the hearts of visitors.
Christmas is known as the "festival of hearts" and in Aabenraa this concept has an extra dimension. Here, several volunteers initiatives make sure that Christmas brings a little extra for those who need it the most.
The idea of the town of Christmas hearts was to create a place in Aabenraa in which people can experience Christmas in a historic setting as it was in the year 1850. The town of Christmas hearts consists of wooden houses that are replicas of a number of the town's old buildings such as the town hall, the church of Sct. Jørgen, the inn Sdr. Hostrup Kro, the Folkehjemmet meeting house and the railway station.
The town of Christmas hearts "Julehjertebyen" opens on the last weekend in November and runs until December 23rd.
