5. May in Sønderborg
Each year, Denmark's liberation in 1945 is marked with flags and wreath laying in several places in Sønderborg Municipality.
In 2025, the 80th anniversary will be celebrated with a special detailed programme, which you can find in Danish under Download.
The daily programme starts at 08:00 in Christianskirken, where wreaths will be laid in the Memorial Grove after the memorial service. Wreaths will also be laid at the memorial stone at Skydestranden, in Skt. Jørgens Skole, at the cemetery of Skt. Marie Church and finally in Nordhavnen at the memorial plaque at Alsik.
The event concludes at 10.30 am with a free coffee table in Parolesalen at Kasernen, which takes place without registration.
